<p><span id="more-523"></span></p>
<p>The workshop is open to all Boone County faith communities that wish to develop programming, especially for their youth, on teen relationship violence and healthy relationships.</p>
<p>Each participating community needs a team of at least two adults and two youth to help brainstorm, design, and implement programming and curricular ideas. TREE&#8217;s facilitating assistance doesn&#8217;t stop with the workshop: They can provide additional educational resources, event coordination, supplies, and space to your TREE team.</p>
<p>The workshop will include information on the following topics and resources:</p>
<ul>
<li>Definitions of &amp; statistics on teen dating violence</li>
<li>Health risks of teen dating violence for your youth</li>
<li>Relevant activities, games, and local speaker resources including the <a href="http://hiderefer.com/?http://theatre.missouri.edu/programs/troublingviolenceproject.html" target="_blank">Troubling Violence Performance Project</a></li>
<li>TREE lending library resources &amp; additional trainings</li>
<li>Media &amp; performance demonstrations</li>
</ul>
<p>Your faith community&#8217;s participation in the workshop includes these useful resources:</p>
<ul>
<li>Binder with useful information, activity guides, and local contact information for each TREE team member</li>
<li>Consultation with project coordinator and TREE health service providers you will meet at the workshop</li>
<li>Networking opportunities with other participating religious groups and previous TREE teams</li>
</ul>
<p>Meals and training materials are free but advance sign-up is needed. Please contact TREE Director Kim Ryan to register for the event using the contact form below.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Youth workers, clergy, teachers and others are invited to a practical workshop aimed at helping adults to better understand and address the needs of mid-Missouri teens.</p>
<p>&#8220;Caring Adults = Resilient Teens&#8221; is open to the public, including youth workers, clergy, faith community members, parents, caregivers and teachers.</p>
<p>The workshop is 5 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 28, at the Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services. Limited scholarships are available to cover the $15 fee. A light supper is included in the cost.</p>
<p>Speakers will equip adults with practical tools to help teens become healthy and happy young adults.</p>
<p>The program is coordinated by the Missouri School of Religion. Co-sponsors are the Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services; the MU Center on Religion &amp; the Professions; Phoenix Programs, Inc.; the Teen Relationship Education and Empowerment project (TREE); and the Youth Community Coalition. Speakers from those groups comprise the speakers.</p>
